Some karyotypic aspects of human leukemia.

چکیده
Chromosome abnormalities are found in the vast majority of hematologic malignancies. A great number of these changes are very specific, and some unambiguously identify the nature and type of the malignant disorder in which they are found. The purposes of this paper are ( a) to update the list of characteristic chromosome changes occurring in human hematologic neoplasia; (b) to bring together data presently known about the nature of trisomies found in these disorders; and (c) to review which genes, other than oncogenes, located near the chromosomal breakpoints may playa role in the cellular proliferation and differentiation, as well as in some other phenotypic manifestations.

Karyotypic evolution: cytogenetics follow-up study in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia.
Forty seven children affected with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) were cytogenetically investigated at diagnosis and all through different stages of the disease (remission and relapse). A clonal karyotypic abnormality was found in 32% at diagnosis (mainly comprised of cALLa+). A hyperdiploid mode with chromosome counts ranging from 47-58, was found to be most prominent among cALLa+ patients...
متن کاملKaryotypic Study and Chromosome Evolution in Some Iranian Local Onion Populations
Abstract A karyotypic study was performed on 12 Iranian local onion (Allium cepa L.) populations. A number of mitotic cells at metaphase stage for each population were prepared. Chromosomes of suitable mitotic cells were counted and various parameters, including long arm (L), short arm (S), total length of chromosome (TL), relative length of chromosome (RL), arm ratio (AR), r-value, total chro...
متن کاملHuman T Lymphotropic Virus Type I (HTLV-I) Oncogenesis: Molecular Aspects of Virus and Host Interactions in Pathogenesis of Adult T cell Leukemia/Lymphoma (ATL)
The study of tumor viruses paves the way for understanding the mechanisms of virus pathogenesis, including those involved in establishing infection and dissemination in the host tumor affecting immune-compromised patients. The processes ranging from viral infection to progressing malignancy are slow and usually insufficient for establishment of transformed cells that develop cancer in only ...
متن کاملNB4, a maturation inducible cell line with t(15;17) marker isolated from a human acute promyelocytic leukemia (M3).
Acute promyelocytic leukemia (APL) is a well-defined entity among acute leukemia, cytogenetically characterized by a t(15;17) (q22;q11-12) translocation. In vitro and in vivo studies suggest that all-trans retinoic acid (RA) treatment restores cell maturation. We have isolated the first permanent cell line with t(15;17), derived from the marrow of a patient with APL in relapse. The establishmen...
متن کاملKaryotypic and molecular abnormalities in chronic lymphocytic leukaemia.
Introduction B cell chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (B-CLL) is the commonest type of adult leukaemia in the western world, accounting for over 40% of all adult patients with leukaemia.' About 50% of patients present with early stage, often asymptomatic disease. The disease may remain stable or slowly progress but at least half of all patients die of a cause unrelated to CLL. Age, sex, Binet stage...
